Do you have life and have it abundantly? Well what is life for that matter. A spiritual writer once wrote that if you asked the people in Hell if they were happy, they would respond that they were. Isn’t that true? Some people are happy to be miserable because that is all they know. People that live in dysfunction don’t know how much better their life could be and they are always blaming others for the life they have. The world can put us to sleep and rob us of our true potential.
As many poets put it, we were created to be loved and to love (I emphasize the order of that). Do you have love and have it abundantly? This is where deep joy is found. The gateway to abundant love is Christ. He shows us the way to the abundant love of the Father. Have you felt the depth of being God’s beloved in Christ? Have you loved others the way Christ loves? We all get burned. Even Christ got burned. But it doesn’t need to stop us from loving deeply. Unfortunately, it is only in getting burned that we can learn how to hold the fire of love. Christ is the gateway precisely because He can teach us how to hold that fire.

Parish Picnic Announcement
As you probably have figured out with the coronavirus we have had to cancel our Parish Picnic this May. I’m very sad that we are not able to have it. Being a South City boy, I really love parish picnics. When the dust settles, I am hoping to have some way of celebrating our parish.
