Committees

 

Finance

This committee is tasked with creating the financial picture of both parishes together. This means making projections based on the current reality and trends at both parishes as well as anticipated savings through collaboration. The finance committee will need to evaluate the effectiveness of fundraisers done at both parishes and make recommendations to fundraising efforts moving forward. The finance committee will make a recommended budget for the first year as one parish. The finance committee will also support the other committees to determine financial implications of projects, programs, and ideas they have for the future.

Communications/Marketing

This committee will work on the immediate need of keeping the parishioners informed throughout the planning process. The committee will publish regular bulletin articles as well as updates to the parish websites and Facebook. In addition, the committee will also make recommendations for the integration of communication functions at both parishes. They will study the top of name, identity, and branding for the new unified parish.

Community Life/Welcome/Hospitality

This committee will focus on the immediate need of supporting parishioners from both parishes in building community with one another. This committee will plan two or three major events over the next few months, designed to help parishioners of Save SDS and SG get to know one another and intermingle. In addition, the Community Life committee will make recommendations about how to best fuse the two parish communities. This includes aspects of parish life such as the picnic and other social and community building activities. The committee will also make recommendations for hospitality and welcoming to ensure that the newly merged parishes has a plan for welcoming new members.

Worship – Vibrant Liturgy and Sacraments

This committee will look at the current reality at both parishes as well as best practice in area Catholic and Christian Churches. It will study current traditions and sacred practices at both parishes and make recommendations for the best ways to unify them. The committee will discuss what makes for meaningful Liturgy and worship and make recommendations for what worship should look like in the future.

Life-long Faith Formation/Education

This Committee will look at current and historical practice of faith formation programs at each parish as well as what is currently being done successfully at parishes locally and nationally. Once they have studied all the programs – they will make a recommendation for an ongoing faith formation program for the future.

Facility

This committee will look at the current state of both parish facilities. They will study the current use of spaces, for both parish and rental needs, and make recommendations for the best future use of spaces. The facility committee will make recommendations for any needed improvements or upgrades to both parish facilities.

Service to the Poor – Outreach

This committee will look at the current efforts to serve the poor at both parishes and make a recommendation for how to move forward together. This committee will look at the current scope of outreach and make recommendations for how to continue or even improve this level of service.
